On the day Wendy held a press conference as a reporter, her husband Ron secretly worked with her own sister Windy and forced Wendy to take the blame.
Wendy cried out in anger and despair, but what she received was even worse betrayal.
Her biological parents chose to protect the younger sister. Her husband chose to make her suffer.
Her parents sent her to a mental hospital. Her sister pushed her off a snowy mountain. Her husband even wanted to take her heart’s blood.
On the day Wendy Bloom was burned alive by her twin sister, her junior classmate, Oliver Mortimer, saved her from near death.
He helped her fake her death and escape abroad.
At the hospital bed, he gently touched her face with his fingers, he spoke softly, “Wen, I will never let anyone hurt you again.”
——
At the press conference, Ron Lugner stood in front of the reporters as Wendy’s husband to give a testimony that his wife was the one in charge on the fatal surgery scandal.
“I’m very sorry. My wife made a serious mistake. The patient may never walk again.”
“This incident happened because she forced her younger sister to take the blame. I will try my best to compensate the victim. I hope everyone will be gentle with my wife.”
Wendy could not believe what she was hearing.
What surgery mistake? It was obvious that her twin, Windy, did the surgery without Wendy even knowing!
Why in the world should Wendy took the blame?!
The older twin suddenly pulled away from Ron’s tight grip. Her heart felt like it was being torn apart, and her throat tightened.
“Ron! What are you talking about? Since the first day I became a surgeon, I have never failed a surgery! Everyone knows this!”
Wendy was a genius in orthopedics. Ever since she started performing surgeries, she always finished faster than expected — usually thirty minutes earlier.
Despite her being a genius, Wendy had a face full of freckles. She got people gossiped about her appearance because of it. Luckily, she had Ron as her loving husband.
Ron Lugner was a famous businessman. He was decisive and powerful, and many women chased after him. But he rejected them all.
No one expected one day, Ron would marry Wendy, the eldest daughter of the Bloom Family.
To protect her precious miraculous hands, Ron even announced that he would stop working overtime, just so he could go home every night and personally take care of Wendy's.
For three years after marriage, he did as he promised. He even gave Wendy ten percent of his company’s shares.
Wendy never imagined that one day, the man who seemed to had given her everything would betray her.
Seeing Wendy getting emotional, Windy walked up and held her. She said with guilt. “Sis, don’t be angry. I… I’m not refusing to take the blame for you. But for you to do this far, it's just... wrong…”
Ron tried to comfort Windy too and pull her into his arms. “Wen, it’s normal for people to fail sometimes. It’s okay. I’ll take care of the blame for you.”
Ron and Wendy were clearly working together. While the younger twin was acting kind, the husband was acting serious. Their display of emotions caused everyone to blame Wendy even more.
Countless people mocked the once genius surgeon.
Wendy felt endless anger and heartbreak in her chest. She never thought Ron would protect Windy by sacrificing her.
She tried to stay calm, but her shaking voice betrayed her. “Do you have any evidence? The patient’s family saw Windy do the surgery. Everyone in the hospital knows she was the surgeon yesterday.”
“Why are you saying I forced her to take the blame?” Even in this situation, Wendy still spoke logically and pointed out the flaws in the spreading rumors.
Unfortunately, Wendy did not expect Ron to be over prepared for Windy. He took out a written apology letter and showed it to all the reporters.
When Wendy saw the familiar handwriting, she felt like she was struck by lightning. Her legs felt heavy, and she could not move.
That signature on the paper... Ron had tricked her into signing last night. He simply said that he wanted to look at Wendy's signature!
Her eyes instantly turned red as she stared at Ron. How could he do this to me?
Wendy's disappointment made Ron’s heart dropped a beat. A trace of regret flashed across his face.
“You lied to me to get my signature. I already said all the doctors know the truth.” Wendy’s voice was shaking with deep pain.
Windy quickly walked forward while looking all sad. Yet, Wendy could swear she saw that glint of victory in her younger twin's eyes.
“Sis, the patient and all the medical staff also testified that you were the surgeon yesterday. Please, stop denying it."
Wendy tried to check on Ron's reaction when Windy made that statement. He avoided his eyes instead.
With such statement made in public, they had completely blocked Wendy from getting away from the false rumors!
Wendy lowered her head. Tears finally fell uncontrollably. Her fingers dug deeply into her palms, as if trying to squeeze all the pain out.
She wiped away her tears and tried to speak again, but the shock and several nights without rest made her give up. She collapsed and fainted on the spot.
***
Upon waking up, Wendy was on a hospital bed. Her room was empty. On the TV, the news replayed yesterday’s press conference.
Her heart felt unbearably bitter. On her phone screen was her freckled face. Luckily, the doctors did not notice anything strange.
Wendy did not waste time. She quickly called her junior colleague at another hospital.
“Ollie, please help me draft a divorce agreement. As fast as possible.”

The moment Wendy hung up the phone, Ron pushed the door open and walked in.
He was no longer the confident man from two days ago. When he met Wendy’s eyes, his guilt was obvious. He hurried over and grabbed her hand.
He forced a smile, trying to act normal. “Wen, you’re awake! The doctor told me you were unconscious for a whole day. I was really worried.”
Wendy looked at his face, she knew better than anyone. Her heart was beyond crushed at this point.
“Why did you do that?” she asked.
Ron paused for a second but did not answer her. Instead, he asked her, “Are you hungry? I can go downstairs and buy you some food.”
Ron's avoidance caused Wendy’s tearing up instantly. Not only because of betrayal, but also because she hated herself for trusting the wrong person.
Seeing her falling tears, Ron reached out to catch them. The hot tears burned his palm.
“Wen, it’s okay. Just this one time, alright? Your medical license won’t be revoked. I promise,” he said.
Wendy pulled herself away. “I’m asking you again. Why did you do this?” her voice was shaky with tears.
Ron knew better than anyone how hard it was for Wendy to become a doctor. In improving her surgical skills to the maximum, Wendy had once locked herself in a room to practice for a whole month.
How could he treat her like this?
This was the first time Ron had seen Wendy so fragile. He felt pity and hugged her tightly.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry, Wen. I didn’t want things to be like this. But Winny can’t lose her career,” he apologized to no end.
“Meanwhile, you can survive. Your reputation in orthopedics is strong. As long as I help you, you can still be a doctor. But Winny can’t.”
“I told you before, Wen. I recently found out that she was the one who saved me when we were kids. I can’t just watch her dream be destroyed…”
Listening to Ron's ridiculous reasons, Wendy felt her blood turn cold. “So you chose to sacrifice me? Your own wife?”
Ron could not answer. He could only shake his head desperately against her waist.
Feeling his trembling hands, Wendy closed her eyes. Despair flooded her heart. “Ron, let’s get a divorce.”
She could not accept that her husband chose her sister over her. Especially Windy was the very person who bullied her since childhood.
Ron panicked when he heard this. Fear filled his eyes, and he forgot why he visited Wendy in the first place.
“No! That’s impossible! We will never divorce you!” He continued, “Wen… I only love you. Please believe me. This will pass soon. I’ll block all the bad news from the media. Everyone will pretend nothing ever happened.”
Pretend nothing ever happened?
But what about her? Wendy could never pretend the scandal didn't happen? She could not pretend that her own husband chose her younger twin over her!
Wendy quietly looked at the man she had loved for three years. Emptiness was reflected on her eyes.
Maybe because Wendy was too calm, Ron thought he had convinced her. After all, Wendy loved him deeply, he thought.
In the first year of their marriage, Ron's rivals forced Wendy to drink an entire crate of alcohol. Wendy drank until she had stomach bleeding and stayed in the hospital for a whole day and night.
Wendy almost died for him.
So now, Ron finally said what he really came for. “Wen, I will hold another press conference tomorrow. When that happens, can you please admit that you failed the surgery?”

Ron no longer had the guts to look at Wendy. He was afraid he would soften.
Meanwhile, Wendy never expected that his real purpose for coming was still because of Windy.
She smiled, but tears kept flowing down her face. “Fine. But you have to sign a compensation agreement.”
Without thinking, Ron reached out and wiped the tears from Wendy’s cheeks. He looked confused, but Wendy did not give him time to react.
“I’m sacrificing this much. You should at least compensate me, right? The document will be sent soon. I’ll watch you sign it myself. Now can you get out?”
Ron froze. He did not expect Wendy to be so direct to chase him out. He didn’t want to leave her. However, her firm attitude left Ron no choice.
So, he sat outside the ward for three hours. When Wendy's contract finally arrived, he went back in. But before he could read it, his phone rang.
It was Windy.
Ron hesitated.
His obvious hesitation caused even more pain in Wendy’s chest. Yet, she forced herself to stay calm.
“Sign it. Then go.” Just saying those few words had drained up all her strength.
Ron quickly signed the “contract” and gently kissed her forehead. “Wen, Winny has been so scared because of the surgery mistake. She couldn't sleep for days. I’ll go see her and come back soon. Wait for me, okay?”
Wendy did not respond. Then, since Ron was in such a hurry, he didn’t even notice her silence.
As soon as he left, Wendy raised her hand and rubbed her forehead hard as if to erase Ron's kiss.
Tears blurred her vision. Her rough movements made her forehead turn red. But Wendy was numb to the pain and kept on wiping.
The signed contract was then successfully delivered to Oliver. Only after Wendy received his message on LetsChat [“It’s done.”] did she finally relax.
She let herself fell onto the pillow.
She'd would be okay. In thirty days, she could completely escape this hell of marriage.
***
The next morning, Wendy got into the car to go to the press conference, but she was stopped halfway.
When opening her eyes again, she was back in the place that had haunted her for most of her life.
The Bloom Family estate.
Her father, Murray, looked at her coldly as she knelt on the floor. Meanwhile, her mother, Hannah, glared at her fiercely.
Wendy had seen that look countless times before she became an adult.
She and Windy were fraternal twins. But when they were born, their weights were very different. Wendy was two pounds heavier. The doctor said it was because she absorbed too much nutrition in the womb and took it from Windy. In the end, Windy was weaker as a child.
From that day on, Wendy’s nightmare began. No matter what happened, Murray and Hannah always protected Windy.
Even when Windy led others to bully Wendy at school, they only said, “This is what you owe Windy.”
Even now, they still believed that.
The disgust in Hannah’s eyes was impossible to hide. “Why are you staring at me? I knew you were just up to no good! You tried to clear up to the press conference to clear your name, right?!”
“If Winny hadn’t told me to stop you, you would’ve succeeded. You both came from my womb, so why are you this.... evil to your sister?!”
As she spoke, Hannah raised her hand and hit Wendy hard on the forehead.
Wendy tried to stand up and resist. But her hands and feet were tied with ropes. She couldn’t move at all.
Seeing this, Hannah pushed her down and dragged her toward the basement. “You still had the guts to defend yourself, huh?! I wish I never had such a shameful daughter like you!”
Wendy couldn’t fight back. She could only watch herself being locked in the basement. Murray simply watched everything in silence like he didn't care.

At the press conference, Ron and Windy waited for a long while. Yet, Wendy still didn’t show up.
Ron frowned, clearly getting impatient. Seeing the right moment, Windy took out a medical report she had prepared long ago.
The report pointed out that Wendy had mental problems since childhood. Every time she had an episode, Murray and Hannah would lock her in the basement.
“Ronnie, our family didn’t mean to hide this from you. It was just that it was so hard for my sister to finally find someone who loved her. Mom, Dad, and I didn’t want her to be hurt. But now I have no choice but to tell you…”
Ron didn’t really listen to Windy’s words. When he saw the report, there was no anger nor fear in his eyes. There was only pain for Wendy. He quickly ended the press conference and went to the Blooms’ estate with Windy.
Sure enough, everything was just like Windy said. Hannah had a red slap mark on her face, and her hair was a mess.
She looked hurt and weak as she hid in Murray’s arms. The two of them looked like parents deeply hurt by their child.
Ron pressed his lips tightly and rushed to open the basement door. Inside, he saw Wendy curled up in the corner, shaking heavily. His heart ached. He walked quickly toward her, wanting to take her home.
However, when rushed ahead of him when she noticed his intent. Windy grabbed Wendy with force.
The moment Wendy saw Windy’s face, painful memories flooded her mind. She was often locked in dark rooms in her younger days. That was why she was extremely afraid of darkness.
The darkness made her panic. So Wendy pushed Windy away without thinking.
Windy had health problems since childhood and couldn’t do intense movements. The push from Wendy was enough to fell on the ground. By then, Ron’s attention was completely taken away.
Windy shouted in pain. Murray and Hannah began blaming Wendy because of it. With so many noise in her head Wendy finally snapped out of her fear.
When Wendy looked up again, she met Ron’s angry gaze. “Wen, what are you doing? Wasn’t it enough to hit your parents? You're huring Winny too this time? Apologize to Winny, and we’ll go home.”
Wendy saw the slap mark on Hannah’s face and froze for a moment. Then she understood that it was all an act.
Despite seeing Ron and Windy so close together made her heart hurt, she didn’t back down. “Do you even think it made sense that I beat both of them without reason?”
Hannah didn’t expect Wendy to fight back and couldn’t made up a reply. Windy realized the situation had gone wrong for her, so she started crying on command.
“Sister, Mom and Dad are old. And you’ve always been like this since you were little. When you get sick, you become very strong. How could they possibly fight you?”
Ron had once doubted the Blooms at the beginning. However, Windy’s words made Ron trusted the Blooms more than Wendy's resistance.
Wendy looked at Ron’s cold expression and knew there was no way to change his mind. So she spoke firmly.
“I don’t care what they say, and I don’t expect you to believe me, Ron. But if you want me to apologize to Windy, then listen well: I will never apologize to her.”
Ron felt extremely uncomfortable at Wendy's boldness. He felt something was blocking his chest and made him breathe with difficulty. Soon, that feeling disappeared after her last sentence.
Ron didn’t want to punish Wendy, but he couldn’t stand the rest of the Bloom Family constantly whispering in his ears.
Murray, Hannah, and Windy kept saying that they locked Wendy in the basement for her own good. Ron thought, they were her family.... so surely they wouldn’t hurt her.
In the end, Ron ignored Wendy’s consent and sent her to a mental hospital.
第5章
Wendy was dragged to mental hospital entrance by Ron's bodyguards. She was filled with shock, but what hurt her more was the fact that Ron, her own husband believed her family's words instead of hers.
Perhaps, because disappointment was so clear in Wendy's eyes, Ron raised his hand to cover them. He couldn't bear the sight and pulled her into his arms.
“Wen, don’t worry. I’ll take you out very soon. I won’t leave you alone,” he spoke softly.
This was the first time Wendy felt a strong urge to throw up because of Ron’s words. They were… too disgusting.
Every day in the mental hospital, she was tortured with electric shocks. Countless pills were forced into her mouth.
Wendy could only wait until night, secretly go to the bathroom, and make herself throw up. She didn't want the drugs wouldn’t destroy her mind. But what she threw up wasn’t only medicine, it was food too.
After more than a week of this torture, Wendy was extremely weak. She finally made it to the day she could leave. But the moment she stepped out of the hospital, her body gave up. She immediately fainted on the ground.
When Ron saw this, his pupils shrank. He forgot everything else and rushed forward to catch Wendy’s now lighter body. This time, Wendy stayed in the hospital for two full days.
***
When Wendy woke up, there an IV needle was on the back of her hand. Once again, no one was by her bed.
But… why did she still have freckles on her face? Normally, after two days, all her makeup should have been gone.
While she was confused, someone at the door gave her the answer.
“Wendy, don’t be scared. I did your makeup for you.”
It was Oliver. He didn’t ask why Wendy used such make up. He just put down a bowl of porridge and hurried away because of work at the hospital.
In truth, Ron had stayed with Wendy all day, but last night he left because of a call from Windy. He planned to come back before Wendy woke up. He didn’t expect her to wake up early.
So, when he finally returned to the hospital room, Ron sat down by Wendy's bed and held the long IV tube in his hand.
“Wen… I didn’t know the mental hospital had tortured you like that. The doctors I talked to already told me everything. Don’t worry, I won’t let those people go.” He continued, “Please don’t be mad at me…”
That was the first time Ron had seen Wendy so pale. Looking at her tired face, he could no longer hide his guilt.
Wendy didn’t respond. She didn’t want to, and she couldn’t forgive Ron.
Ron felt scared at her cold silence. To make Wendy feel better, he decided to take her to do her favorite activity: skiing.
***
When they arrived at the skiing site, Wendy found out Windy was there too. She turned around and wanted to leave, but Ron held her tightly.
His voice sounded almost like begging. “Wen, she won’t ski with us. Winny will just watch from the side.”
Before Wendy could speak, Windy came over warmly, held Wendy’s arm, and smiled sweetly. “Sister, it’s so good that you’re out. But your hands are really cold. Let’s go talk over there. I’ll ask Ronnie to buy us warmer gloves.”
It sounded like a suggestion, but Windy forcefully pulled Wendy away. Wendy still felt the pain from the electric shocks. Being dragged like that made her face twist in pain.
Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore. She violently shook off Windy’s hand and looked at her coldly.
“What do you want?” Wendy asked firmly.
Now that they were out of Ron’s sight, Windy stopped her pretense. A familiar look of disgust appeared on her face.
“What I want? You’ll know very soon. But before that, I’m really curious. Why do you seem sober? Didn’t you drink any of those pills at the mental hospital?”
第6章
Wendy was not surprised by Windy's statement. Back in the mental hospital, she had already heard Windy’s voice from those useless doctors’ phones.
“So what?” Wendy said calmly. “Windy, you like Ron, right? But unfortunately, we’re still not divorced.”
Wendy was still in great pain, but she didn’t back down. So, she jabbed Windy where it hurt most.
Windy was so angry that her eyes went wide. But then, as if she remembered something, a smile appeared on her face again.
“Yes, I like him. Wendy, if you don’t divorce him, I have planned hundreds ways to ruin you. Today will be one of them,” said the younger twin.
Before Wendy could understand what Windy meant, she was suddenly pushed hard. Her body rolled straight down the snowy mountain.
Ron came back with the gloves. When he saw this scene, his heart almost stopped. His eyes instinctively looked toward Wendy and his body moved in her direction.
A flash of jealousy passed through Windy’s eyes. Suddenly, she screamed loudly.
“Ronnie!! I’m here!!”
Ron didn’t have time to think.
He hesitated for only one second, then turned around towards Windy's direction instead. She was about to fall down the mountain too.
Wendy’s was silent in shock. Ron's wife was at the brink of death but he chose Windy instead.
Her heart felt completely shattered as her body slowly froze in the snow. It was as if all her love disappeared in an instant.
***
Before her eyes opened, the strong smell of disinfectant filled her nose firsthand. Upon waking up, Wendy felt her hand being tightly held.
She looked over, and it was Ron... the very man who had abandoned her. This time though, Ron looked terrible. Dark circles were under his eyes, and his eyes were red.
When Ron saw her wake up, his eyes lit up. He had never been this scared in his life.
When Wendy was sent to the hospital, her eyes were closed, and colors were drained from her face. No matter how much he called her name, she didn’t respond.
Wendy was treated in the emergency room for a while. During the time, Ron had waited outside. Due to physical and mental assessment on Wendy, the doctor almost gave her a critical condition notice.
Now, seeing Wendy alive, Ron couldn’t stop his tears. “Wen… you’re finally awake. I was really scared to death. I didn’t mean to leave you. It was just too urgent, and Winny once saved my life…”
Those familiar excuses again. Wendy felt a slight pain in her chest, mixed with a new kind of deep irritation.
She couldn’t stand it anymore and interrupted him. “So what? I don’t want to know your story with her. Whatever happened between you two has nothing to do with me.”
Wendy's words stunned Ron. He never expected her to react like that. Feeling uneasy, he tried to hold her hand.
But then, Ron's assistant whispered, “Mr. Lugner, something happened to Ms. Windy…”
After hearing that, that familiar guilty look appeared on Ron’s face again. “I’ll be right back, okay Wen?”
Wendy watched Ron left in hurry. Her fingers unconsciously tightened around the blanket. Her breathing got a pace faster.
Before she could rest for long, Ron’s bodyguards suddenly appear in the room and forcibly took her to the Blooms’ estate.
They were rough, and her fair arms were pulled until they turned red. Ron was clearly angry at Wendy, but when he saw her frown in pain, his anger turned into pity.
At that moment, Windy spoke with a fake sadness, “Big sister, I know you hate me for taking Mom and Dad’s love from you. But why are you so cruel to curse me?”
第7章
Windy acted as if she was in intense fear. In her agitation, she threw herself into Ron’s arms. He tried to push her away, but he failed and triggered Windy to react even more strongly.
From Wendy’s point of view, it looked like Ron was simply holding Windy. So she forced herself to suppress the jealousy and slowly stood up.
“I moved out when I was 20. I’ve never come back to live here even once. What makes you said I put a curse in this place?” Wendy pointed at the creepy dolls in the room.
The Blooms had obviously expected her words. Murray looked at her with pain and accused her. “If it’s not you, then who else would it be? You hated your sister so much and had bullied her since childhood! There’s a recorder inside the doll. That voice is yours, Wen!”
Hannah took out the recorder and pressed the button. [Doll, oh doll… I hope you can help me destroy Windy, make her disappear from my world forever…]
Wendy’s pupils widened. After a moment of shock, she quickly calmed down. “Guys, this is the age of AI. It’s easy to fake someone’s voice!”
Seeing that Ron was starting to hesitate, a cruel light flashed in Windy’s eyes. She cried even harder. “Wen, why are you treating me like this? I’m your own twin! If you hate me so much, I might as well just kill myself!”
Her words stirred everyone’s emotions, especially Ron. He considered Windy as his savior in the past, so hearing her talk about death triggered his anger.
“Wen, be good. Apologize to Windy. Then let the priest take a bowl of your heart’s blood to break the curse. After that, everything will be forgiven." Even though Ron believed Wendy was responsible for the curse, he was still hesitant on acting fully cruel.
Wendy raised her head suddenly out of shock. “My heart’s blood? Break a curse? Ron, are you crazy? You actually believe all of this bullshit?!”
Ron ignored her and signaled to the bodyguards behind him. As the guards walked toward her, Wendy felt like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. But she didn’t give up. She grabbed something nearby and threw it at the bodyguards before running as fast as she could.
Wendy forgot that these guards were professionally trained. Before she could even take two steps out the door, they dragged her back inside the estate.
Ron looked at her, disappointment flashing in his eyes. “Wen, it’ll be quick. It won’t hurt.”
The leading guard walked toward her with a knife. Wendy was terrified that tears flowed uncontrollably. Even so, she never begged for mercy.
The knife was sharp. When it cut into her skin, cold sweat covered her forehead. She bit her lip to keep from screaming, until blood flowed from her mouth.
The sound of blood dripping echoed in the huge building. She looked up at the people in the room... they were supposed to be her closest family. So, why? Hatred burned in her heart like a raging fire.
After her blood was taken, all her strength seemed to leave her body. She felt hopeless.
Seeing how weak she was, Ron felt aching in his heart. He pushed Windy away and stepped forward, wanting to hold Wendy in his arms.
第8章
When Ron approached her, Wendy only saw that it was the King of Hell trying to snatch her own life. She panicked and trashed to avoid him. Nausea in her stomach was so strong she almost threw up.
She didn’t know where the strength came from, but she pushed Ron to the ground and ran out of the Blooms’ estate as if she were escaping for her life.
Ron wanted to chase after her, but when Windy fainted, he gave up.
***
Wendy ran with all her strength. She just wanted to escape from her family's house that had become her forever nightmare. But she didn’t notice that everyone on the street was staring at her with disgust.
Blood was still seeping from her chest, staining her blue-and-white hospital gown. Her face was deathly pale. She was already at her limit. When she collapsed on the ground, the disgust in people’s eyes could no longer be hidden. One by one, they walked up and started throwing things at her.
Some threw eggs. Some threw bottles of water.
They kept cursing her. “It’s that doctor! The surgery failed and she blamed her own sister!”
“She even cursed her own family's house and wished her sister's death! How can someone be this evil?!”
“Ugly people cause trouble! I used to not believe in face-reading, but after seeing Wendy, I believe it now.”
Wendy stood there in a daze, listening to all of this. He felt so defeated. She never expected that Ron would use such a method to take revenge on her for Windy.
She thought her heart would hurt so much that she couldn’t breathe. To her surprise, it only twitched slightly before becoming completely numb. Soon, her body was covered in wounds from being hit. Since her energy had been exhausted, Wendy could only protect her head with her arms.
When cold water splashed onto her face, her freckles slowly faded. Seeing that she didn’t resist, the crowd felt bored and gradually left.
Struggling to stand up, Wendy forced herself to keep going. Unfortunately, several familiar figures appeared beside her and tightly restrained her.
This time, what woke her up was burning fire. When she opened her eyes and saw sparks everywhere, Wendy felt her chest tighten.
Ron would never want her dead. The ones who wanted her life were the Blooms all along!
The fire grew bigger and bigger. The smoke made her cough violently. Due to the constant harassment from the bystander earlier, blood was now flowing from her forehead too.
Even though fear of death was slowly eating her away, Wendy tried to save herself with whatever was left in her. Eyes darted right and left, finally saw a place where the fire had not fully spread yet. She clenched her fists, as if encouraging herself.
It’s okay. Being burned was still better than dying.
So, Wendy waited for the right moment and was about to rush out. Suddenly, someone splashed gasoline on her. The flames easily caught the gasoline trail and blocked all of her exits!
The person responsible was standing there, arms crossed, looking at her proudly. Wendy would never forget that voice, even if she died.
“Wendy, I already warned you to divorce Ronnie. I found out you're still with him after you woke up. You didn't even bring up the divorce conversation with him!"
"Well, since you didn't listen to me, this is your punishment. Besides, you shouldn’t have been alive in the first place.”
Huh? Why was Windy so sure that Wendy didn't mention about divorce to Ron?
Wait a minute...
Wendy remembered she had seen a black interface flash on Ron’s phone. So it was a listening device after all!
Wendy couldn’t believe it. Since when did she love Ron so deeply that she had tolerated all this?
Looking at Windy’s smug face, Wendy spoke with sarcasm. “Windy, you blamed the wrong person. You should ask Ron why he won’t divorce me. Why he won’t let me go.” Wendy was implying that Ron still loves her.
With that, Windy’s jealousy caught up. She clenched her teeth. “You’re about to die and you still had the guts to say that?! Bah! But it doesn’t matter!"
"You're dead today anyway. Once you’re gone, Ronnie will eventually fall in love with me.” As her words ended, the wooden house began to make loud cracking sounds.
BOOM!
