My son was seriously ill,but my husband abandoned the operation.It wasn't because he was unskilled,in fact Michael was'the genius surgeon'in our hospital. Michael left as soon as he heard that his first love had returned to the country.He then handed the surgery to an intern instead.Because of that,Archer lost too much blood during the operation and almost fell into a coma. I begged my husband to save Archer.He agreed. During the second surgery,Archer waited for a long time in the operating room.However,my husband still did not appear. In my left ear,I heard were the beeping machines in the ICU.In my right,I heard Michael's and Alicia's sighs. I stared at the screen while tears filling my eyes.My head aching like it would explode. Then my phone vibrated.It was a photo of a pregnancy check up document.Alicia sent it along with a couple of messages: [The unloved woman among us is the actual mistress in this relationship.] [Did you know?I intentionally came back that day because I knew Mike was going to operate on your son.I wanted to see who was more important to him.You or me.”] [Now I’m pregnant with Mike’s child.He promised me this baby will be his only heir.So if you want that bastard of yours to live,you’d better disappear.] My knees went weak and I almost fainted. So that was why her return was so perfectly timed.That woman had planned all these! My hands trembled as I stared at the photo. Twelve weeks pregnant.So,it had been three months. I leaned against the wall,bending over and gasping for air.Tears fell heavily onto the floor. Three months ago,I got a sudden call from Archer’s teacher.She told me that my son had fainted in class. The doctors found a rare disease on him.They said that only a genius surgeon like Michael could treat it.Yet,no one managed to contact him. Full of hope,I called Michael on my own. My calls got rejected numerous times.Just when I was about to give up,he finally answered. Before I could beg him,I heard his impatient voice.“Stop calling me,would you?I’m busy!” I ignored his rising voice and pleaded,“Honey,please,something happened to Archer—” But a sweet voice from the other end interrupted me. “Mike,who’s calling you?You said you’d spend today with me.” The call was cut off immediately. After that day,Archer missed the best treatment time and his condition worsened. Michael said he was in a meeting with his assistant.But in truth,he was with Alicia Moore...and even got her pregnant. The sounds of rescue in the ICU slowly stopped.The doctor came out and told me Archer was safe for now,but he must have surgery within two weeks. I nodded and thanked him. Through the glass,I gently touched Archer’s sleeping face.Then I lowered my head and downloaded a record from the security camera. Since Michael had abandoned me and Archer,we would abandon him too.
