A text message popped up in the class group chat. A student had been in a car accident and had been rushed to the hospital. She urgently needed a donor with a rare RH-Negative blood type. Wanting to help, I went to the hospital and donated 800 milliliters of blood. Afterward, I passed out from blood loss. When she woke up, she claimed she was pregnant and said the baby was mine. Everyone accused me of crossing a line despite being an educator and professor in college. They said I had slept with a student and got her pregnant. I went to confront her, but she acted like she was the victim. "Your blood is in my body now, and in the baby's body too. What's wrong with saying the baby is yours? From now on, my baby and I are depending on you. You'd better take good care of us and make sure we don't suffer, or I'll sue you for seducing me and dumping me!" Furious, I shoved her. She rammed her stomach into the corner of a table on purpose and miscarried. The internet decided I was a scumbag who had killed the baby on purpose. "How can someone like that exist? How can someone like that teach at all!" I lost my job. I was doxxed and harassed over the phone. Someone even threw acid on me and destroyed my face. I lost everything. My wife, who was eight months pregnant at the time, believed me and defended me, only for the internet to turn on her too. They accused her of helping a monster to hurt others. The stress caused her to have a serious hemorrhage, and she and the baby both did not make it. Crushed by guilt and grief, I jumped off a building and killed myself. That student, however, profited from my tragedy and became an influencer with a million followers overnight. When I opened my eyes again, I had regressed to the day I saw the message in the group chat.   Chapter 1 The class group chat kept filling with pleas for help. A photo of Chloe Smith covered in blood was being passed around, but I did not even give it a glance. In my last life, I had rushed to the hospital to save her the moment I heard the news. I never imagined that one act of kindness was the same act as signing my death warrant. This time, I would not make the same mistake! Just as I was about to set down my phone, Chloe tagged me in the group chat. Her voice sounded weak in the message as she said, "Professor, I saw you once in a rare blood type group. I don't have much time. If you're willing to save me, I'll do anything you want." Malice seeped through the recording. I swallowed down the hatred in my heart and calmly typed a reply: [I'm in poor health and can't donate any blood. Find someone else.] Chloe did not seem to expect me to refuse. Her next voice message carried a sharp note of accusation, "How bad could your health possibly be? You're a grown man. "I'm only asking you to donate a little blood. It's not like I'm asking for your life! "I know you've always liked me. Are you trying to use this chance to take advantage of me while I'm desperate? "Fine. If you'll save me, I won't mind that you stalked me and took my clothes without my knowledge. I'll even date you! She sent several voice messages in a row, each one rushed and full of resentment. However, what she said was no different than throwing several bombs into the group chat at once. People immediately started to respond. People loved drama, and they never lacked a sense of justice. After hearing that, everyone in the group rushed to defend her. [What the hell? This is disgusting. Liam is both a professor and a married man. It's bad enough that he fell for a student, but he even stole a student's clothes? How can he face his wife after that?] [I once saw Liam holding a woman's clothes and his face was completely flushed. Who knows what filthy thing he was doing? As a fellow professor, I'm ashamed to have someone like him as a colleague!] As soon as that message appeared, the whole group erupted. Every message cursed at me. I looked at the username of the person who had sent it. It was Victor Brown, a colleague of mine who had always hated me and had been competing with me for research funding. In my last life, he had fanned the flames to the point that I had no way to defend myself and could only take all of the abuse. I could not hold myself back and tagged Victor directly in the group chat: [@VictorBrown When and where did you see me holding a woman's clothes and doing something with them? If you can't answer, that's defamation. I can sue you for that.] The group chat went quiet for a while, and I sent several more messages, one after another: [Also, who decided that I had to donate blood?] [This is my blood. I have the right not to donate. If you think refusing to donate blood means taking advantage of someone in crisis, then you go donate.] Chapter 2 I tagged several more staff in the group chat who also had the same kind of rare blood as Chloe. [@ZoeSmith @JakeMartinez, aren't you both RH-Negatives too? Why aren't you going?] [Or are you both into Chloe too?] RH-Negative blood had always been precious. If they had been willing to go, they would not have been stirring things up in the group chat. The moment they saw that, they panicked and quickly argued back. [Exactly. Why should we be forced to donate?] [I was planning to donate at first, but after hearing what you people said, I don't want to anymore. I don't want to be accused of being a creep with some hidden agenda for Chloe. Gross!] [The blood is part of my body. I'll donate if I want to, and I won't if I don't. What does it have to do with you?] The two of them pushed back one after another. [I've seen in the group that Professor Liam has donated blood for free many times earlier. He isn't someone who would take advantage of someone in trouble. He must be quite ill now, that's why he isn't going. What right do you have to guilt-trip him like this?] [Exactly. What if the donation affects his health? Who's going to take responsibility for that?] Jake even tagged Chloe directly. [@ChloeSmith, even if you want Professor Liam to donate his blood, you can't ruin his reputation and spread rumors about him like this. No one would be generous if you do that.] As soon as she said that, Chloe sent a voice message, her voice full of grief and anger, "Professor, you like me. You've harassed me for so long, and I'm finally willing to give you a chance. What else can you possibly be unhappy about?" I sneered as I replied: [I love my wife very much. I'm not blind to fall for someone like you!] After a long while, Chloe stopped messaging the group chat. I let out a sigh of relief, but the weight in my chest still remained. Everything had only just begun. Eventually, a volunteer donated enough blood to Chloe. Once she was out of danger, the first thing she did was call me. "You've lost your chance now, Liam Connor. It's too late to regret it." I scoffed and answered without giving her any courtesy. "Whoever saved you has terrible judgment. They shouldn't have saved an ingrate like you." "Are you lashing out because I hit a nerve?" Chloe growled over the phone in annoyance. "Don't think you can hide those filthy thoughts you have. You can stop the act already!" I froze, becoming somewhat confused. What made her so confident exactly? Chloe went on, her voice filled with arrogance and smugness. "You like asking me questions in class. You've always cared about whether I understood the lesson. You even care about my family. Isn't all of that because you wanted me?" I was so furious that I laughed. "I'm your professor. It's perfectly normal for me to ask students questions in class. Not to mention your parents called the college several times and demanded that you drop out already. As your professor, of course I had to find out why." But Chloe only laughed in contempt. "I don't believe you can be that kind. I know how old men like you think better than anyone. I'm so young and beautiful. It's normal for you to want me. If you want me to be with you, fine. You'll have to make me an offer that satisfies me." Her greedy tone made me sick. I looked up and forced down the chill in my chest. "What makes you that confident? Everyone in class knows you don't shower and that you stink. Even your roommates avoid you. I'm a neat freak, and my standards aren't that low. If students hadn't kept complaining that you were bothering them, did you really think I'd waste my time on you?" My words were cruel, and Chloe was so angry that her breathing turned heavy. "You're a professor! How can you say something like that?!" "So what?" I gritted my teeth and hit back at her. "I'm a professor and I teach and guide students, true. However, I'm also human. Since you've already slandered me like this out in the open, why do you think that I should have even a hint of patience with you?" Chloe was so furious that she cursed me out loud, the words she used were so filthy that I could not stand it. I quickly hung up after that. Sensing how angry she was, my mood improved greatly. Chapter 3 When I got home, my wife Evelyn Evans was sitting on the couch, heavily pregnant. I immediately ran over and pulled her tightly into my arms, tears filling my eyes. She froze for a moment before gently hugging me back. "Honey, what happened? Is work going that badly? Why not tell me about it?" Evelyn's voice grew even softer. Hearing her voice again, I broke down. It took a long time before I managed to say as I sobbed, "It's nothing. I just wanted to tell you that I would never betray you. If anything happens to me, don't worry about me. Protect yourself and the baby." Evelyn looked baffled and stuck a finger against my forehead. "Don't say things like that. You're going to be fine." I could feel the warmth in my heart as I pulled her into my arms again. She suddenly gasped and guided my hand to her belly. "Honey, quick. Feel this. The baby kicked." My eyes widened. As I felt that small life moving under my hand, my heart warmed even more all at once. At that moment, I became even more certain that I would protect my wife and child no matter what happened. I would also make Chloe pay the price she owed me! At work on Monday, my student Zoe greeted me as soon as I walked onto campus. She sighed, her face full of sympathy. "Professor, you really have the worst luck. There are so many people in the group chat, why did Chloe target you? I don't think she just wants you as her personal blood bank. She saw that you're good-looking and treat your wife well, so now she wants to be your lover too." Jake nodded beside her. "Good thing she didn't set her sights on me. I'm so bad with words I wouldn't even know how to defend myself." Thinking about my previous life, I trembled and quickly said, "There's nothing left to say. It's over. My wife and I grew up together and all I want is to be with her since we were little. I would never betray her." To make my position clear, I stated my intention outright. "When I got married, I even signed a prenup. If I cheat, I'll leave with nothing. How can I possibly fall for another woman?" "Wow… Are you really that devoted?" The two of them were stunned and moved. I nodded. "Yes. My wife has been with me for so many years. Things haven't been easy for her, so I have to make her feel safe. No woman would want to be my lover anyway since there's nothing for her to take." I wanted everyone to understand exactly where I stood. I would never cheat! I also hoped that after Chloe learned about it, she would understand that using a child to hold on to me would be useless. I would never raise another man's child! But the moment I entered the office, I saw that my file cabinet had been ransacked. My things were scattered everywhere. Even the box for the anniversary gift I had prepared for my wife had been opened, and the gift was gone. Fury burned inside me as I ran forward and my eyes scanned over everyone. I yelled, "Who did this?!" No one answered and my expression darkened. "This is theft. If no one comes forward, I'm calling the police." Before I could finish, Chloe pushed the door open and walked in with a grin. "I did it. I was just in a car accident, so I'm not doing so well physically and need to heal up. I didn't have enough money, so I came here to get some from you. I already sold that necklace. It was barely enough to buy the supplements. "Why are you looking at me like that? Helping me recover is something you should be doing anyway. That wasn't enough money, so I started getting some ready. I need at least ten thousand from you." The professors in the office looked back and forth between us, all wearing the same expression, like they were watching some drama unfold. I did not hold back as I pointed at her and cursed, "Chloe, are you insane? What does your health have to do with me? Give the necklace back to me right now." She frowned and tears rolled down her cheeks. "You don't want to take responsibility for me? This is what you should be doing in the first place!" I was so angry I could not speak. So, I stepped forward, grabbed her wrist, and called campus security. "Someone here stole from me. Take her to the police station." Chloe kept struggling, her eyes red as she looked at me. "Professor, are you abandoning me?" "I have nothing to do with you, and you're not up to my standard anyway!" I trembled with rage as I growled at her. "If you keep twisting things like this, I'll sue you for defamation!" Chapter 4 Chloe was eventually taken to the police station, but I still felt upset about the whole thing. No matter where I went, I heard people talking about it all day long. Only when I got home and saw Evelyn did I finally breathe easier. I took photos with Evelyn and posted them on my social media, along with our prenuptial agreement. I was used to keeping a low profile, so showing off my marriage so openly for the first time felt strange. But I suddenly found it kind of fun after a few more posts and a flood of envious comments came in, especially when I saw the faint blush on Evelyn's face. For a moment, it felt like we had fallen in love all over again. The next day, Evelyn came to campus at noon to bring me lunch and eat with me. For a while, the whole college started shipping Evelyn and me. "Married couples are still the sweetest. Liam and Evelyn are such a perfect match. I'm so jealous of their relationship." "Liam and Evelyn are so lovely together. There's no room for someone desperate like Chloe to wedge herself between them. What was she thinking, anyway? How could she spread rumors about Professor Connor?" "She has always been like this. I even saw her trying to seduce the vice chancellor before. Too bad for her, he was oblivious and didn't take the bait at all." After Chloe agreed to pay back the value of everything she had stolen and signed an agreement for it, she was released. The first thing she did was come to find me, looking deeply upset. "Professor." At the time, I was eating with Evelyn in the college cafeteria. Without thinking, I picked up my phone and pointed the camera at her. "I'm recording everything you do and say. Don't even think about framing me!" She looked even more wounded, tears welling in her eyes. " Professor, are you showing off with this old hag every day because you want to make me jealous? You two have been together for so many years. There's no love left between you. Why would I be jealous of an old hag? "I already agreed to be with you. You don't need to keep putting on this act with her. You just want the baby in her womb, don't you? I can give you a baby too!" Every word of hers was filled with contempt for Evelyn, and my expression grew darker. It did not matter how Chloe slandered me, but I drew the line at going after my wife! In my last life, she had deliberately used words like these to provoke me into attacking her, causing her miscarriage. In the end, everyone became convinced I was an irresponsible scumbag, and I had no way to defend myself. I begged her to explain everything clearly, but she only shook her head like it did not matter. "The child already had your blood in its body anyway, so it was perfectly normal to say it was your child." Thinking of this, I quickly looked down at Evelyn, my face tense. "Honey, don't believe her nonsense. She's insane." Evelyn gave me a reassuring look and smiled gently. "I believe you." I breathed a sigh of relief before looking up at Chloe, shielding Evelyn behind me. "Get lost. You have one week to pay back the money, or you can go to jail." Chloe's face instantly turned pale, and her hateful gaze turned to Evelyn behind me. The next moment, she suddenly charged at us like a lunatic with a shriek. "It must be because of you that the professor is ignoring me! You witch! I'm going to kill you!" I was startled and pushed her away without thinking. She fell to the floor and her face twisted in pain as she kept groaning. As the events from my previous life repeated themselves, a chill went down my spine. Under everyone's gaze, she crawled to my feet. She grabbed my pant leg and begged through the pain. "Professor, save me and the baby! This is your own flesh and blood!"
